Shady Lakes Drive Extension

The Palm Beach Gardens City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 budget, which includes the extension of Shady Lakes Drive north to 117th Court North. The extension provides connection of City Park and the City’s Tennis Center to both roadways. The City is considering including pedestrian and bicycle access ways adjacent to the schools and parks, drainage, landscaping, irrigation, traffic calming, street lighting and other improvements typical of a City of Palm Beach Gardens community roadway.

The fiscal year budget appropriation of $2.5 million set aside for the roadway, with an estimated construction budget of $1,875,000.00.  At the November 5, 2015 City Council meeting, the Council approved a new set of professional services contracts. Included in these contracts are survey and engineering firms, which will be used to collect data necessary for the design of the Shady Lakes Drive extension.  At the April 20, 2016 Council Meeting the City Council took action to approve the roadway design and construction of the Shady Lakes Drive improvement in two phases.  At the May 5, 2016, City Council Meeting, Council approved Resolution 33, 2016, the Right of Way Conveyance Agreement between the City of Palm Beach Gardens and the School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida for conveyance and improvement of 117th Court North.  Construction and paving on 117th Court North is scheduled to be completed by August 15, 2016.

The roadway design has been completed for Shady Lakes Drive and a construction contract has been awarded for the roadway improvements.  Completing the 117th Court North Improvement Project in conjunction with the Shady Lakes Drive Extension is vital to the City’s connectivity and roadway system.  See the table below for a summary of the three projects.
