Hiring Process and Benefits
The City accepts applications for posted positions only. Employment applications for open positions are accepted during the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday. If a closing date is specified on a posting, applications must be received by 5:00pm on the closing date. |

Employment applications received are reviewed for qualifications and forwarded to the hiring department for consideration. Applicants chosen for an interview will be notified by the Human Resources Department either by telephone or by mail. Those applicants who are not chosen to continue further in the selection process will be notified by mail.
If a conditional offer of employment is extended by the City, the following steps are taken:

- Initial offer letter
- Background check & drug screening
- Telephone call with final offer
- Final offer letter including salary & start date

Please note: Fire, Police and Riverside Youth Enrichment positions require additional testing for hire as stated in the job postings for those departments.
All new hires are subject to a probationary period of 6 months to 1 year, depending on position. Benefits for new hires are available on the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
