Palm Beach Gardens Government
The City of Palm Beach Gardens, pursuant to its Charter, follows a "Council-Manager" form of government. Residents are served by five non-partisan elected officials who are the policy making body of the City. These elected officials - the City Council - in turn, appoint the City Manager who is tasked with overseeing all administrative duties and the daily business operations of the City.
City Council members serve for three-year overlapping terms with the Mayor and Vice Mayor appointed by members of the City Council. The City Council legislatively establishes policies in the form of ordinances, resolutions or motions, which determine the laws, proceedings and service levels for the City. The Mayor presides at all Council meetings, which are held once per month on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 P.M. However, during the month of July, the City Council meeting will be held on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 P.M. in observance of the 4th of July holiday. The City Council shall, by vote, establish the two (2) required September meetings necessary to adopt the budget.
