The inclusion of the educational component to the athletic camp benefits the youths by providing life skills and an awareness of services in the community, which will thereby enhance their social resiliency and civic relationships.

- Youth education on gardening and water reclamation through the Riverside Youth Enrichment Center. Teachers include in their curriculum these items through all of the age groups.
- We have begun to program exercise and wellness in the parks. This increases awareness in adults for the environment and reduces the amount of energy utilized in buildings by not having to cool and light rooms.
- Public Tours – Tour of police station, tactical training center and dispatch center including live demonstrations of use of control techniques.
- Mobility Plan (to reduce transportation inefficiencies and ensure pedestrians and non-drivers are accounted for in the planning process).
- The City’s new Mobility Plan and Mobility Fee provide the basis to implement multi-modal principles to reduce vehicle trips, encourage use of transit and light rail, and increase pedestrian and bicycle activity throughout the City. The Mobility Fee enables the City to collect fees from developers in lieu of paying Road impact fees to the County. These mobility fees are used for multi-modal capital improvements within the City’s boundary, that were typically used for improvement outside the City limits, and within the County through standard County road impact fees.
- Proactive Planning & Zoning projects include a Transit Oriented Design Master Plan (staying abreast of cutting-edge planning and zoning strategies that strongly include into design elements how people move around and engage with their environment).
