On January 16, 2015, the Palm Beach Gardens Women's Club and the City celebrated Arbor Day 2015. On that beautiful Friday morning, President Muriel Faile of the Woman's Club opened the ceremony by welcoming Mayor, Bert Premuroso, Council Members, David Levy and Joe Russo, City Manager, Ron Ferris, the students from Howell Watkins Middle School and City staff to the 16th Arbor Day at the PBG Woman's Club Honor Park at Lake Catherine Park.
Mayor Premuroso read the Arbor Day Proclamation proclaiming January 16, 2015 Arbor Day and presented the Proclamation document to the PBG Women's Club. This year the PBG Women's Club donated the PotatoTree to the City. City Forester, Mark Hendrickson, provided a few tree facts about the Potato tree. David Reyes, Director of Parks and Public Facilities attended with Parks Staff who care for the trees all year and secure the Pine seedlings donated by Tim Wellan of Art by Nature Gardens Center. For the tree planting ceremony, all the gold shovels were lifted with soil by adults and kids alike to establish the Potato tree as the 2015 Arbor Day tree.
