On January 20, 2012, the Palm Beach Gardens Women's Club and the City celebrated Arbor Day 2012. On that beautiful Friday morning, the president of the Woman's Club opened the ceremony by welcoming Mayor, David Levy, Vice Mayor, Bert Premuroso, Council Members, Eric Jablin and Marcie Tinsley, City Manager, Ron Ferris, the children from the City's Riverside Youth Enrichment Center and City staff to the 13th Arbor Day at the PBG Woman's Club Honor Park at Lake Catherine Park.
Mayor Levy read the Arbor Day Proclamation proclaiming January 20, 2012 Arbor Day and presented the Proclamation document to the PBG Women's Club. This year the PBG Women's Club donated the Pink Powder Puff Tree to the City. City Forester, Mark Hendrickson, provided a few tree facts about the Powder Puff tree. Charlotte Presensky, Director of Parks and Public Facilities attended with Parks Staff who care for the trees all year and secure the Triple Adonidia Palm seedlings donated by James Landscape Design. For the tree planting ceremony, all the gold shovels were lifted with soil by adults and kids alike to establish the Powder Puff tree as the 2012 Arbor Day tree.
