On January 15, 2016, the Palm Beach Gardens Women’s Club and the City celebrated Arbor Day 2016. On that beautiful Friday morning, President Amanda Dimantha of the Woman’s Club opened the ceremony by welcoming Mayor, Eric Jablin, Council Members, David Levy, Marcie Tinsley, and Bert Premuroso, City Manager, Ron Ferris, and City staff to the 17th Arbor Day at the PBG Woman’s Club Honor Park at Lake Catherine Park.

Mayor Jablin read the Arbor Day Proclamation proclaiming January 15, 2016 Arbor Day and presented the Proclamation document to the PBG Women’s Club. This year the PBG Women’s Club donated the Milky Way Tree to the City. City Forester, Mark Hendrickson, provided a few tree facts about the Milky Way Tree. David Reyes, Director of Parks and Public Facilities attended with Parks Staff who care for the trees all year and secure the Bald Cypress seedlings donated by Tim Wellan of Art by Nature Gardens Center. For the tree planting ceremony, all the gold shovels were lifted with soil to establish the Milky Way tree as the 2016 Arbor Day tree.
