In accordance with NFPA 17A: Standard for Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems, 2013 Edition, paragraph 5.6.4  – “Movable cooking equipment shall be provided with a means to ensure that it is correctly positioned in relation to the appliance discharge nozzle during cooking operations.”

In addition, according to NFPA 96: Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations, 2014 Edition, paragraph 12.1.2.3.1 states that “An approved method shall be provided that will ensure that the appliance is returned to an approved design location.”

Per the AHJ, regardless whether the kitchen appliance beneath the suppression system is on wheels or legs, the equipment shall be chained or cabled to the wall so that if for any reason the equipment is pulled away from the wall the chain/cable will prevent the gas line from being pulled from its couplings.
