[ARCHIVED] City Supports Fire Chiefs Association Request for County to Decentralize COVID-19 Vaccinations

COVID-19 update.

On Thursday, January 7th, the Palm Beach County Fire Chiefs Association issued a letter to Florida Department of Health Palm Beach urging that vaccines be provided to Fire Rescue Agencies for operation of vaccination sites within their jurisdictions. The City of Palm Beach Gardens supports this request.

In the letter, Palm Beach County Fire Chiefs Association President Diana J. Matty stated the following:

"The Palm Beach County Fire Chiefs Association represents the 12 Fire Rescue Agencies within Palm Beach County. We collectively urge the Department of Health to provide sufficient numbers of vaccines to the Fire Rescue Agencies in order to operate closed PODs within their jurisdictions.

Our agencies have the ability to efficiently provide vaccine administration services to our citizens.

Our agencies are committed to this ongoing mission and will continue to engage our communities throughout the process. Our personnel will administer the vaccine in conformance with the priority distribution requirements of the Governor’s Executive Order 20-315. We hope that we are given the same consideration as the mass sites to strategically help our most vulnerable citizens.

Departments are prepared to immediately vaccinate our communities at the per day/ week numbers listed on page 2 below."

The provided schedule details that, if approved, Palm Beach Gardens would administer 200 vaccines per day, with appointments available six days a week, for a total of 1200 vaccines administered per week.
