May is National Stroke Awareness Month Did you know that in 2017, Gardens Fire Rescue noted that residents waited an average of 75 minutes between patients exhibiting the signs of a stroke and calling 9-1-1? For every minute that a person suffering a stroke does not get medical intervention 2 million brain cells will die, possibly resulting in permanent disability or death. It can happen to anyone, at any time, and at any age.
To raise awareness for this important public health concern, Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue will be partnering with Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center to offer FREE stroke risk assessments to the community in the month of May for National Stroke Awareness Month.
Stop by the Gardens GreenMarket, 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, and get your free assessment while you shop for your GreenMarket favorites on Sunday, May 6th. You can also join us at the Stroke Panel of Experts Lecture on Thursday, May 31st in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens. In addition to the free assessment, a panel of experts will conduct a presentation with a local stroke survivor. There will be a question-and-answer session following the presentation. Light dinner and refreshments will be served. Registration for this event is required.
