Recreational Monthly Singles and Occasional Doubles Tournaments: An Opportunity for Young Players

Getting started in match and tournament play can be a formidable obstacle for the young player. The Tennis Center’s “Junior Futures” series offers a regular opportunity for match play in ability-based groups at levels from “Yes, I can play” to “Beginning to be ranked.” The format calls for everyone to play three timed, 8-game pro-set rounds in ability-based groups, followed by a pizza lunch, which is included. August will feature doubles on August 19, followed by singles on August 26, as follows:

Junior 1-Day DOUBLES Tournament (Timed)

Saturday, August 19, 11:30am-3pm - Format is the same as for our monthly singles, except that you and a friend will partner for the competition. Doubles is fun! And it emphasizes skills essential for good singles play, but not always used. Activity #222101-3D

Junior 1-Day SINGLES Tournament (Timed)

Saturday, August 26, 11:30am-3pm – Activity #222101-3.

The kids loved presentations from Safari Sue and the Bubble Man.  We also enjoyed Water Day once a week, ate fresh herbs and veggies from our garden, enjoyed our space shuttle crafts while learning about space, and loved hanging out with friends. It has been a fun and full summer!
