Opening Day! The Gardens GreenMarket sponsored in good health by Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center

Join us as we move back outdoors for the 17th season of The Gardens GreenMarket! Don’t miss out on 3D interactive chalk art featuring the Chalk Guys and enjoy the complimentary photo booth from Juju Booth at 10am!

The GreenMarket continues every Sunday thru May 6th from 8am-1pm. Choose from fresh produce, flowers, handmade crafts, prepared foods and so much more! Health & Wellness Fair Applications AvailableCalling all health and wellness vendors! The City of Palm Beach Gardens is hosting a Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, February 23 at Burns Road Recreation Center from 9am-3pm. Showcase your specialty to people looking to improve their lifestyles. Vendor applications for this event are available beginning October 1, 2018, and must be submitted by January 11, 2019. New Class Sessions Start in OctoberThe Palm Beach Gardens Leisure Services Department offers a wide variety of fun and educational classes, programs and events for all ages. New sessions are starting throughout the month of October. Please download or pick up a Gardens Life brochure to see everything that we have to offer! (Please don’t wait until the first day of class to register as some classes may get cancelled.)

GFWC Palm Beach Gardens Woman's ClubWednesday, October 17 | 7pm Lakeside Community Center, 10410 N. Military TrailPlease join the GFWC Palm Beach Gardens Woman's Club on Wednesday October 17th, for a program on Abused Women and how you can help them. Please bring clothes for women and children, shoes, sheets for a single bed, toys (stuffed toys must be new by State Law), large diapers, dishes, lotions, etc. These will be given to the speaker, Director Mary Cauthen. Kids Cooking Challenge: Calling all Budding Chefs!This has been a VERY popular class! Each week we have a delicious cooking lesson and all ‘chefs’ will be given a mystery basket to explore and create fun and exciting recipes! Students ages 8-13 meet for 6 weeks on Mondays, Oct 29-Dec 10 from 4:30-5:30pm. Res/Non-res fee: $120/$150. Please register online or in person by Wednesday, October 24.
Fun with ClayAfterschool Art Activity starts October 25 Register your 8-12 year old in this new class where your child will develop their creative voice by explorations in clay. Expressive hand building and sculpting techniques will be demonstrated and used to create imaginative works of art. All materials are included. Thursdays, Oct 25-Dec 20 from 3:30-5pm. Res/Non-res fee: $160/$200 for 8 weeks.

Boo Bash!Friday, October 19 | 10 – 11:30am Burns Road Recreation Center Children 4 and under are invited to wear their favorite costume and join us as we celebrate the Fall season featuring music, games, a story and a food craft. Please pre-register by Wednesday, October 17, either online or in person. Res/NR $10/13 (no fee for parents).
*NEW* Totally TotsTotally Tots for 2-3 year olds is a new program that introduces socialization skills, fun and learning all at the same time. Each class is based on a story and includes a craft, snack and free play. Stories include “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, “If You Give A Mouse a Cookie” and “Good Night Moon”, just to name a few. Space is limited so don’t delay! This six-week session begins Wednesday, October 17 from 9-9:45am at Burns Road Rec Center. Please register in advance. Res/NR $48/$60. Experience the Joy of Dance!Recital & Recreational dance classes are open for registration.Weekly recital classes for dancers 3-19 years old are offered in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and more! Join the program up until November 2018 and enjoy a relaxed, no pressure, fun experience with great instructors and a professional recital at the Eissey Campus College Theatre in May. New sessions for Recreational classes for ages 2 and older start late October or early November. Details for all of our dance classes are online.

FREE Tai Chi!Tai Chi returns to Veterans Plaza, 10500 N. Military Trail, from 8-9am on Sundays starting on October 7th along with the opening of the new GreenMarket season. Tai Chi is an excellent way to improve balance, heart health, and fight stress. This popular class is offered free to the public on Sundays through May 5th, thanks to Palm Beach Heartstrong.

Mah Jongg Tourney & LuncheonBurns Road Recreation Center is about to come alive with a fall Mah Jongg Tourney and Luncheon. This exciting event will take place at Burns Road Recreation Center on Tuesday, October 9 from 11am-4pm. Time is running out to register, so stop by today! Registration deadline is October 2. Club Member $5/Non-Club Members $10
Canasta Tourney & LuncheonIf you love Canasta, Burns Road Rec Center is the place to be! This sensational event will take place on Thursday, November 8 from 11am-4pm. Even though it doesn’t take place until November, you need to stop by the Rec Center and register this month because the deadline is November 1st. Club Member $5/Non-Club Members $10

New Pool Hours Go Into EffectMonday, October 1, 2018, marks the first day of our new winter hours at the Aquatic Complex. As of Monday, the Splash Zone and main play pool will be closed until the spring. For all you year-round swimmers, the lap pool will remain open for laps, water aerobics, swim team and more. Please visit our Aquatic schedule online for current program and lap swim hours.

Next Session of Makos Swim Team Begins October 8 The Makos Swim Team is the perfect program if you are looking for a fun, outdoor activity to keep your child active. Swim Team consists of 4 different levels of swimmers and includes conditioning and technique-based swim instruction in a team environment. Last Session of Group Swim LessonsThere is still one final session of group swim lessons remaining for this season and it starts on Monday, October 1st, so register today! The learn to swim program provides swim lessons for all levels and all ages starting at 6 months old. Private and semi-private lessons are also available on a year-round basis. Tennis Center Awards & AchievementsThe Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center has been named USTA Florida Member Organization of the Year. We thank you all for your support! A USTA Florida Diversity Award has been awarded to our Lisa Pugliese for her “work in supporting and expanding tennis in any diverse population in Florida!” Lisa also received the USPTA Star Award for her Love Serving Autism not-for-profit organization.

Jeannette McGlone won the Canadian National Outdoor Women’s 70 Doubles Championship with her partner, Janet Turner. She trains with Ron Rainyn when in Florida during the winter. CONGRATULATIONS, Jeannette!
NEW at the Tennis Center:Friday Night Hitting Frenzy Rapid-fire drills and games conducted by Tennis Center pros. Fridays from 6-7:30pm starting October 12. Show up, sign in and get moving! $18/$22 per class Monthly Friday Mixed Doubles Social Round Robin play followed by food and drinks on the last Friday of every month at 6pm.
