AGELESS TENNIS PLAYERS?

Tennis is a sport that transcends age. It is enjoyed by many players well into their eighties or nineties. Think that’s an exaggeration? It is documented that playing tennis is associated with longevity. Just read this AARP Healthy Living article

The competitors in this year’s “Les Grandes Dames” and USTA National Clay Courts Championships clearly demonstrated to any who watched that it is played with remarkable vigor and skill by quite a few, including twelve entrants in Women’s 80 Singles! Congratulations to Diane Barker, W60s Champion, and Toni Novak, W70s Champion.

TENNIS PLAYERS COMING OF AGE

In contrast, Abra Boonswang,  a Gardens Tennis Center Passport Holder,  demonstrated that tennis is also for the young. She made a great run at the USTA Florida Level 4 Gulfstream at BallenIsles Girls' 12s, held May 11-14 in Palm Beach Gardens. Seeded #4, she eliminated three other seeds before falling to #1 seed, Alex Ackman, 6-2, 6-2 in the final. The following week, Abra turned it up a notch, winning the even more challenging Girl’s 12 Singles at the USTA National “YellowTennisBall.com", a Level 2. Unseeded Abra decisively beat the #4, #1 and #3 seeds on the way to the championship. Her rise has been rapid, her training eclectic. She’s a player to watch!
