IT WAS A SPECTACULAR 60TH CELEBRATION!Thanks to so many people for coming out and participating in the City's 60th Anniversary Celebration and Grand Opening of the Gardens North County District Park this past Saturday, June 29th. We had SO MUCH FUN! Beautiful weather, amazing music, delicious food and drinks, a classic car show, TONS of interactive games and activities, and an impressive fireworks show took place at this fabulous new park located at 5101 117th Court North, adjacent to the Tennis Center. It was really great to see people of all ages having a good time and so many parents not just watching, but really playing with their kids!

Thursday, July 4 | 10am-4pm PBG Aquatic Complex, 4404 Burns Road Avoid the crowded beaches and cool off on a hot Fourth of July at the PBG Aquatic Complex. It will be a fun-filled day of games, rocket pops, and a live DJ! Wild 95.5 will be onsite hosting fun games and awesome music from 11am to 1pm. Pool admission fees (tax not included): PBG Residents - $3.50/Non-residents - $7.

GARDENSART RECEPTION FOR CYNTHIA MARONETFriday, July 19 | 5:30-7:00pm City Hall Lobby, 10500 N. Military Trail

Saturday, July 20 | 11am-1pm Burns Road Community Center, 4404 Burns Road
Sons ages 4 and older and their moms (or stepmom, grandma, aunt, etc.) are invited to our first Mom & Son Luau! Enjoy an afternoon of lively DJ music, competitive gym games, and a tasty lunch with a very ‘cool’ dessert. All Luau guests will receive complimentary admission to the PBG Aquatic Complex after the event so that the fun can continue all day long! SUMMER SKATE JAMpresented by Locals Surf Shop Saturday, July 27 | 5-9pm PBG Skate Park, 10113 Plant Drive Show us your skills at the Summer Skate Jam presented by Locals Surf Shop. There is no charge to enter the competition, and pizza and drinks will be provided for all participants. Skaters of all skill levels are welcome and there will be several opportunities to win some cool gear! Helmets are required. Email gcires@pbgfl.com for more information.

JULY IS PARK AND RECREATION MONTHSince 1985, America has celebrated July as Park and Recreation Month. A program of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the goal is to raise awareness of the vital impact that parks, recreation and conservation have on communities across the U.S.
This July, Palm Beach Gardens Recreation Department is "Game On!" for Park and Recreation Month. All month long, we’ll be celebrating the fun and games that local parks and recreation offers to residents of all ages and abilities. We’ve had lots of fun, so far, with such a great variety of summer camps this year! There are still a few spaces left in some of our weekly camps, so sign up before they fill. Camps with current vacancies include:

Drama - Swirl - Rhythm & Soul - Film Making - Almost Famous - Gardens Gives Back - Know Before You Go - Predators Soccer - Skate Jam - Musical Theatre Kidz - Golf - Sports R Us - Sports R Us Juniors - Classic Camp – Marlins (ages 7-8), Dolphins (ages 9-10) and Panthers (ages 11-13)
Full day camps run 7:30am-6pm and half day camp hours vary. Register online or in person at any Recreation front desk.

SUMMER RECREATIONAL DANCE CLASSESSummer is a great time to try out a new dance class! July sessions are about to begin. Evening and Saturday classes for hip hop, ballet, jazz and tap for ages 3-19 are available. Register in advance so the class does not get cancelled. Summer Dance Classes.

2019-20 FALL DANCE PROGRAM OPEN HOUSEThursday, July 11 | 5:30-7:30pm Burns Road Community Center, 4404 Burns Rd. If you need assistance choosing the correct class type and level for your child for the Fall dance classes, dance instructors will be available to confirm your class selections. Returning students will receive their class recommendations at the front desk when registering for classes. Registration for Fall classes begins August 13.

OUR TEENS HAVE BEEN LEARNING A LOT!NEW! Know Before You Go is a life skills program for ages 14-17 to better prepare them for independent living and/or college after graduation. Participants in our first week already learned how to sew on a button, basic first aid, how to stretch a dollar, budgeting, basic car care, self-defense and more. We still have a few spaces available the week of July 22-26 from 7:30am-6pm, so sign up before it’s too late! Resident/Non-Resident $190/$238.
Teens ages 14-17 also have an opportunity to earn community service hours for school and gain hands-on experience by helping local non-profit agencies with community service projects. We still have a couple of spaces open during the last week of the Gardens Gives Back Community Service Experience, July 29-August 2 from 7:30am-6pm. The benefits are endless as they build character while encountering positive, rewarding and enlightening experiences that they’ll remember for a lifetime. Resident/Non-Resident fees are $190/$238. Court-ordered community service hours are not available.

STAY FIT DURING SWIM SUIT SEASONThe Recreation Department offers adult fitness and wellness classes such as Karate, Tap Dance, Yoga, Zumba, Boot Camp, Stroller Power, Deep Water Aqua Fitness and Dance Yoga/Bollyfitness throughout the summer. LAKESIDE SENIOR CLUB SUMMER HOURSThe Lakeside Center will be closed on Thursday, July 4th for Independence Day. However, the fun will resume on Friday! The Lakeside Club summer session runs Monday-Friday, June 3-August 30 from 1-5pm at Lakeside Center, 10410 N. Military Trail. Programs include BINGO, Bridge, Mah jongg, Canasta, and a variety of other games. During the summer, the annual membership fee is prorated to $15 for Residents and $30 for Non-residents. Guest Res/Non-res daily fee is $3/$5. Information on the Adult/Seniors Lakeside Club.

INDEPENDENCE MIXED DOUBLES AND COOK-OUTSaturday, July 6, 10:30am-2:30pm – Yes, it’s time to grab a partner and extend the celebration of the Glorious Fourth with three rounds of paired mixed doubles in ability-based groups. Format is 8-game pro-set. The cookout features burgers, hot dogs and ribs from the grill, salad and soft drinks (or what you bring). Entry is $17/$19/$24 per player for PBGTC Passport/PBG Res/Non-Resident. Enter online.

SUMMER TENNIS CAMP Summer Tennis Camps are going strong! Tennis offers two fun morning camps: 1) Tennis and Fitness (ages 7-17) from 9am-Noon and 2) Camp Little Pros (ages 4-6) from 9-10:30am. The emphasis is on FUN. A USPTA pro leads a group of trained teaching assistants. Tennis & Fitness is three 50-minute activity sessions, followed by a drink and snack. Little Pros is three 20-minute sessions, each with a drink and snack. Attendance has been very good so far, but there is room for more campers! Register online or in person. CONGRATULATIONS, WENDY!Tennis Operations Manager, Wendy Tatum, received her Florida USPTA Facility Manager of the Year Award June 1st at the organization’s annual conference, held at the PGA National Resort. Wendy shared the credit – and the stage – with members of her teaching, maintenance and management teams. We’re proud to have you as part of our team, Wendy!

TRISH FAULKNER INDUCTED INTO THE USPTA FLORIDA HALL OF FAMEAs the long-time Director of Tennis for the BallenIsles Club, Trish has brought ITF World and USTA National championships to Palm Beach Gardens and to the Tennis Center, along with high-level sectional tournaments. Trish has been a touring professional, an organizer of the women’s professional tour, a multi-time ITF world champion, and National Vice President of the USPTA. In short, she has done it all. Her induction is not only richly deserved, but perhaps a bit slow coming. Congratulations, Trish!

NEW ADDITION TO AQUA FITNESS SCHEDULEFor all you early birds, we have added two new morning class times to our schedule of popular Deep Water Aqua Fitness classes. In addition to Rosalynn Garey's morning, evening and weekend classes, Gordon Weinberger is now teaching on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-9am. Classes are only $4 for residents and $5 for non-residents, and all equipment is provided. Get your hour of exercise done early in our temperature-regulated pool. Aqua Fitness Class Schedule

MAKOS SWIM TEAM The Makos Swim team is the perfect program to help children beat the heat while enjoying an outdoor activity during the long and hot summer days. The Makos practice Monday-Thursday afternoons starting at 4:30pm. There are competition opportunities for swimmers that are interested. For more information, please visit our Makos web page.

LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAMSummer is the perfect time to be a part of our group swim lesson program. The Learn to Swim program provides swim lessons for all skill levels and ages starting at 6 months old.
